Simply put, the VTU is an organization by Troopers for Troopers. We believe an organization focused on the issues facing Troopers and Field Agents, the backbone of the Department, can make a difference. We will not spend $150,000 of your hard-earned money on Executive Directors. We will not use money put into the VTU to throw parties for politicians. We will not use VTU money to fund pleasure trips or golf outings for board members.
We will pursue legislation that helps Troopers and Agents do their jobs more effectively and take care of their families. We will do everything possible to protect and help VTU members and their families at critical incidents and during grievance procedures. We will do everything possible to make lives of Troopers and Agents, both personally and professionally, better.
Joining the VTU is a way for Troopers to get involved with improving themselves, the Department, Commonwealth and our Country.
Please join or support the Virginia Troopers Union.
The mission of the VTU is to be a highly ethical, nonprofit, sworn employee’s labor union, sponsoring Departmental change in order to better the professional and personal lives of Virginia Troopers and to voice and promote positive change regarding job-related issues that affect employee welfare and Departmental mission accomplishment.
The Virginia Troopers Alliance officially formed on January 1, 2006 as the Virginia Troopers Union. On August 25, 2006 the Virginia Troopers Union was renamed the Virginia Troopers Alliance and expanded its membership to include all sworn Commonwealth of Virginia law enforcement and investigators as a part of the Virginia State Law Enforcement Alliance. On March 30, 2009 the Virginia Troopers Alliance was reorganized as the organization that administers benefits for three independent labor unions; the Virginia Troopers Union (VTU), the Virginia State Police Supervisors Union (VSPSU) and the Virginia State Law Enforcement Alliance (VSLEA).
