General membership is made primarily for Troopers of the ranks of Sergeant and above. This is to give all Troopers a voice in making positive change.

Since the ranks of Sergeant and above cannot attend all VTA meetings, hold Board Positions or vote on organizational issues, it would not be equitable to expect them to pay dues for such limited membership. The ranks of Sergeant and above may pay the same dues as an Active Member and receive the Active Member benefits but may still not attend all VTA meetings, hold Board Positions or vote on organizational issues. This is to ensure that the VTA remains focused on Road Trooper and Field Agent issues.

Other General Members are Troopers of the ranks below Sergeant that do not pay dues. The VTA was not made to keep Troopers out. If any Trooper wishes to be a member of the VTA but does not wish to pay dues, they may be a General Member. General Members cannot attend all VTA meetings, hold Board Positions or vote on organizational issues. General Members that do not pay dues will not have the Active Member benefits.

Active Members receive the benefits listed on the Troopers page and may also attend all VTA meetings, hold Board Positions and vote on organizational issues. Active Membership dues are currently $30.00 per month. Dues may be paid by payroll deduction and the rate of $15.00 per pay period or bank draft at the rate of $30.00 each month.
